Music Magazine industry.

The music magazine industry is volatile, you never know what will sell and what will not. The major magazine publishers are Bauer, IPC, BBC Magazines and Hearst in Britain. Bauer own three of the most popular music magazines, Kerrang, Q and Mojo. Bauer is the biggest magazine publisher and therefore it makes sense that their magazines sell. IPC own NME and Uncut, these are also big sellers in the music magazine world. IPC are the second biggest magazine publishers. BBC magazines own Music, which is a magazine specifically made by the BBC Franchise. Hearst however does not sell a music magazine.

As you can tell there is not a lot of music magazines available. This only goes to show how harsh the music magazine industry can be. However since the introduction of technology the music magazine industry has been able to expand online. Online magazines have given smaller brands a chance. This is because now they can afford to run it, it is also a lot easier to create. Although the classic magazine does give you a physical copy and it's portable, it has no interactivity and unlike an online magazine you can't hear the music. With a online magazine a lot more content becomes available to the reader. You can also continue to create an income from advertisers. As you can tell technology has had a positive affect on the magazine world however there are still a few disadvantages. First of all you need to have a machine to read it on, and second of all you need a internet connection. Therefore it is not as portable as a traditional magazine.
